- 廣泛活動地區
- Estonian airspace, from Ämari Air Base, which has hosted the NATO Baltic Air Policing detachment in Estonia since 1 May 2014.
- 重要歷史
- The first Estonian air unit was formed on 21 November 1918; the 1940 occupation broke the service’s history for more than fifty years. The modern service was rebuilt in three published steps — a headquarters in 1994, the air base in 1997 and the air surveillance wing in 1998 — and its own page calls NATO accession in 2004 the important step. Ämari was rebuilt between 2008 and 2012 and has been the base for allied air policing since 2014, which is the arrangement that gives a service without fighters a fighter presence.
- 優勢
- A service organised around the two things a small state can do for the alliance’s air picture — watch the airspace and receive the aircraft that police it. The air surveillance wing feeds NATO’s integrated air picture, and Ämari is the physical point at which allied air policing and reinforcement enter Estonia.
- 限制
- The Air Force publishes no combat aircraft of its own; air policing over Estonia — NATO's air defence mission since 1 August 2026 — is flown by rotating allied detachments under NATO’s direction, and the framework nations retain national command of them. The published structure stops at two wings and a base, and nothing about systems, quantities or readiness is carried here.
