W skrócie

The Artesh ground force's helicopter arm — a large, ageing rotary fleet bought in the 1970s and kept flying by domestic overhaul, organised as a command of the Ground Forces rather than of the Air Force, on a lineage that began as an aviation battalion of the imperial army in 1962.

Bases across Iran at structural level only; its historical ground is the Iran–Iraq war's fronts. No location or basing is authored.
Istotna historia
The imperial army raised an aviation battalion in 1962 with a handful of light aircraft, expanded it to a regiment in 1971, and in the oil boom of the 1970s bought one of the world's largest army helicopter fleets from the United States and Italy — attack, utility and heavy-lift types in the hundreds. The revolution and the American embargo froze that inventory in place; the Iran–Iraq war consumed part of it and proved the rest, and since then the arm has been sustained by a domestic overhaul and renewal industry that rebuilds 1970s airframes and produces derivatives of them. It is organised as a command of the Artesh Ground Forces, not of the Air Force — the arrangement the imperial army chose and the republic kept — which gives the ground force its own mobility and close support independent of the air service. Its significance in this module is that of the Artesh generally: a conventional force built for a different war, and a fleet whose age is the clearest measure of what sanctions have done to Iran's conventional aviation.
Mocne strony
Institutional continuity, a self-sufficient overhaul base that has kept a 1970s fleet in service for five decades, and organic mobility for a ground force that would otherwise depend on the Air Force.
Ograniczenia
Airframes of the 1970s and their derivatives, sustained by reverse-engineering rather than replacement; an arm the Guard duplicates with its own aviation; and an inventory Iran does not publish. No numbers, basing or readiness are authored.
