- Not territorial; publicly claimed operations have ranged from the occupied south and Crimea to Russian territory. Nothing about units, bases or methods is authored.
- Historique notable
- Established as a separate branch in January 2016 out of the Ground Forces' special-purpose regiments, with NATO advisory support that shaped it on the model of a joint special-operations command rather than the Soviet spetsnaz pattern it inherited. The branch's public record since 2022 is what its own command has chosen to claim: reconnaissance and raids behind the lines in the 2022 counteroffensives, the Snake Island and Kinburn operations, resistance-movement work in the occupied south, and, from 2023, long-range strike and sabotage that public reporting attributes to it alongside Defence Intelligence and the Security Service. The 2025–26 reorganisation of the Armed Forces around corps left the branch's separate status intact.

- A decade of NATO-pattern development, a publicly demonstrated deep-operations record, and institutional separation from the Ground Forces that lets it work directly for the General Staff.
