Historique notable: Founded in 2013 by Sheikh Wahid al-Balous around a single purpose — keeping Druze conscripts out of the Assad state's war — and built into the province's largest armed movement, opposed to the regime, to the jihadist groups on the province's edges and to any single religious authority over the community's arms. Al-Balous was killed in a 2015 bombing widely attributed to the regime, and the movement's leadership passed through his sons and allies. It kept its distance from Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri's line through the transition, then, after a leadership change and the July 2025 violence, announced in August 2025 that it was joining the National Guard he had raised. Reporting a year later describes the faction both inside and outside that structure; the August 2026 realignment on the southern file, in which a faction leader looked outward while the line shot, is the context the uncertainty sits in.
Points forts: The longest continuous record and the deepest community roots of any Sweida faction; a founding purpose the community still recognises.
Limites: A movement whose position inside the province's unified structure is unresolved, whose relations with Damascus and with the external protection al-Hijri has sought are its own, and whose status Vigil can only record as uncertain.
