It is also the origin of this module's Ukrainian file: two days later Kyiv's Defence Intelligence spokesman said the fighters had received the information they needed, and Mali and Niger severed relations with Ukraine over the remark. Nothing about external support to the ambush itself is established — the alliance's own spokesman told Reuters on 15 August 2024 that it had received no outside help here and no Ukrainian assistance of any kind — and the battle record is unchanged by the claim.
