The Vilnius Summit approves a new generation of regional defence plans — Key Events — NATO Eastern Flank

What happened

Allies approve a new generation of regional defence plans, which NATO says significantly improve the coherence of collective defence planning with Allies' national planning of forces, posture, capabilities and command and control. Leaders also agree to establish the Allied Reaction Force as part of the NATO Force Model.

The regional plans are the organising logic of the module's current period: they are why reinforcement, host-nation support and military mobility became the binding constraints rather than force numbers. They are also the module's sharpest evidence boundary — NATO publishes that the plans exist and does not publish which command holds which, and this module refuses to infer it.
