A bi-national corps assumes responsibility for Estonia and Latvia — Key Events — NATO Eastern Flank

What happened

1 (German/Netherlands) Corps, headquartered at Münster, states that it assumes tactical command responsibility for Estonia and Latvia, succeeding Multinational Corps Northeast; Estonia's foreign ministry places the corps directly above the Estonian Division. The formal date is given as 30 June 2026 and a flag-raising ceremony was held on 31 August 2026. Multinational Corps Northeast retains Lithuania and northern Poland.

The corps boundary on the eastern flank moved, and any reading of the module built from sources before July 2026 places two Baltic states under the wrong headquarters. It is the most recent structural change in the Force Atlas and the reason the corps layer is dated rather than presented as permanent.
