The UAE and Israel normalised relations in 2020. During the 2026 war the relationship deepened rather than strained: Israeli air-defence systems and personnel were reported deployed to Emirati territory, described as a first, while the UAE absorbed the largest share of Iranian strikes.

ملخص

Relations were normalised under the Abraham Accords in September 2020, and the security component has since extended to early-warning coordination and defence-industrial contracts. The 2026 war is the test this record exists to capture: the UAE received nearly half of the more than 6,700 drones and missiles Iran fired at the six Gulf states between late February and mid-May, and reporting describes Israeli air-defence systems and trained personnel deployed to Emirati territory for the first time. A relationship that might have been expected to break under a regional war deepened instead. Vigil records what is reported and infers nothing beyond it: no covert cooperation is asserted, and shared opposition to Iran is not treated as evidence of a security arrangement.

لماذا يهم

This is the most consequential structural change the war has produced in the Gulf's security architecture, and it sits inside the module alongside an Israel–Iran adversarial relationship and an Emirati suspension of relations with Tehran. Holding all three as separate authored records is what lets the module show a Gulf that is not one position.

الاتفاقات

  • Abraham Accords normalisation agreement · وُقّع في 2020-09

Established diplomatic relations between the UAE and Israel. Vigil records its existence and date; the security cooperation described here developed subsequently and is not itself a term of that instrument.

الأحداث ذات الصلة

ما لا يزال مجهولًا

  • The deployment of Israeli air-defence systems to the UAE is reported by media and think-tank sources; no official statement by either government confirming its scope or duration has been read.
  • Whether the arrangement is temporary and tied to the war, or a durable change, is not established.

قراءات تدعمها الأدلة أيضًا

  • The deepening may reflect a wartime expedient with a defined end rather than a structural realignment. The record dates the change and does not predict its persistence.
