Relations were normalised under the Abraham Accords in September 2020, and the security component has since extended to early-warning coordination and defence-industrial contracts. The 2026 war is the test this record exists to capture: the UAE received nearly half of the more than 6,700 drones and missiles Iran fired at the six Gulf states between late February and mid-May, and reporting describes Israeli air-defence systems and trained personnel deployed to Emirati territory for the first time. A relationship that might have been expected to break under a regional war deepened instead.
