The Air Force flag — a sky-blue field charged with the service's winged badge around the white sun. Public domain on Commons in its own right; the ROC Ministry of National Defence is recorded as the author of the original design. LEGIBILITY, STATED: the badge is a detailed device and at the 18x12px the formations index renders a mark at it resolves to a pale form on sky blue. It was kept because the FIELD COLOUR carries the identity at that size and the badge resolves properly at the 38x26 and 40x40 the Atlas card and masthead use — the same test the 1MB Iranian service flags failed and were refused on. - One of the four commands the Air Force Command Headquarters publishes as its components, and the organisational answer to a question the module raises constantly: when analysis says "Taiwan's layered air and missile defence", this is the thing it is naming. The command consolidated air-defence artillery and surface-to-air missile functions that had previously been divided between services, which is why a capability most militaries hold in the army sits in the air force here. It operates both imported and indigenous layers — the Patriot family alongside the domestically developed Tien Kung series — and the warning picture that makes either useful depends on a long-range early-warning radar that has been operational since 2013 and publicly credited with detecting a ballistic launch in July 2026.
