- STRUCTURE, AND WHERE IT STOPS. A theatre command is a joint headquarters with service components assigned to it: a ground component, a naval component (the former East Sea Fleet), an air component, an assigned Rocket Force element and a joint logistics support centre. The atlas records the first three. It does not record the missile element, for the reason set out on the Rocket Force's own record, and it does not record the logistics centre as a node — a named and placed sustainment installation is the same category of content. Below the service components the open literature goes considerably further, naming assigned group armies and bases; that layer is an order of battle assembled against one island, and it is the thing this module exists without. Created in the 2016 reorganisation from the former Nanjing Military Region, the Eastern Theater Command is the headquarters most directly associated with Taiwan. It is the entity that publicly announces the major exercises conducted around the island — including those following the August 2022 Pelosi visit and the May 2024 inauguration — and its announcements are themselves a signalling instrument, timed and named for political effect.

Dowództwo Wschodniego Teatru Działań ChALW ogłosiło rano 29 grudnia 2025 r. wspólne ćwiczenia o kryptonimie „Justice Mission-2025” z udziałem jednostek wojsk lądowych, marynarki wojennej, sił powietrznych i sił rakietowych na wodach i w przestrzeni powietrznej wokół Tajwanu. Były to ósme duże ćwiczenia wokół wyspy od sierpnia 2022 r.; trwały do chwili, gdy Dowództwo ogłosiło ich zakończenie późno w dniu 31 grudnia, a najintensywniejsza aktywność przypadła na pierwsze dwa dni.
