- Istotna historia
- Poland joined NATO in 1999 and has expanded and re-equipped its forces faster than any other ally relative to its size since 2022. The command system was consolidated in 2014 into a General Staff, a General Command of the branches and an Operational Command; the ministry’s own pages record that from 23 December 2018 the General Commander, the Operational Commander and the Chief of the Support Inspectorate were placed under the Chief of the General Staff, described as the first stage of a reform whose later stage — separate service commands — was announced as planned and is not published as enacted.

The gov.pl page for the General Command describes it commanding the branches’ units, but under a subordination to the Minister that the ministry’s own 2018 reform pages superseded, so the services stay filed under the root rather than under a command until a dated Polish page states the current relationship.
