A framework agreement of July 2022 for up to 1,000 tanks; a first executive contract for 180 K2GF the same month, delivered from December 2022 and completed in 2025; a second executive contract of 1 August 2025 for 180 more — 116 K2GF and 64 K2PL — with the K2PL to be assembled in Poland; and an April 2026 agreement on domestic production. Rôle sur le champ de bataille
Main battle tank for the divisions Poland is building on its eastern border; in the module's terms, the system through which the armour-recapitalisation economy object reads the difference between a supplier that delivers within months and suppliers that deliver within a decade.
Points forts
Delivery speed — the first tanks arrived five months after signature — and a modern design with an autoloader, a three-man crew and a hydropneumatic suspension; the K2PL adds an active protection system and a counter-drone fit, and the domestic assembly line gives Poland a tank industry the Leopard purchases did not.
Limites
A fleet of two configurations from a supplier outside the European logistics and ammunition networks, which is why the K2PL standard and the Polish production line matter as much as the tank; the 64 K2PL are a 2028–2030 delivery, so the fleet fielded through the decade is the gap-filler configuration. No holdings or unit assignments are recorded.
Identification visuelle
A low, angular turret with a long 120 mm L/55 gun, a wedge-shaped front, six road wheels and a prominent commander's panoramic sight on the right of the turret; the K2PL is expected to show added turret armour and launcher modules.
