Drawn by Vigil in IconSprite.astro from the 1992 order that defines all four PLA service flags on one construction: the top five eighths are the PLA flag and the bottom three eighths carry the service colour — green, for the ground. No file is fetched and no artwork is copied. An ensign never replaces state affiliation; this record still reads CHINA.

- Historique notable
- Created with the theatre commands themselves in the 2016 reorganisation, when the former Nanjing Military Region's ground forces were separated from the region's other functions and placed under a theatre army headquarters. The change is more than administrative: before 2016 the ground force was the organising service and the region was effectively an army command, and afterwards the ground component became one of four services answering to a joint headquarters. Whether that reversal has actually taken hold inside a force with an army-dominated culture is one of the standing open questions in published assessment of the PLA, and it is not resolved here.
- Points forts
- Proximity, and a theatre structure that on paper places ground forces under the same joint headquarters as the naval, air and missile components rather than beside them.
- Limites
- No recent combat experience and no demonstrated joint performance; the reforms that created this headquarters are recent by institutional standards, and the corruption investigations that reached senior levels across the PLA from 2023 make even internal assessments hard to read from outside. Vigil publishes no assigned formations, no locations, no strengths and no readiness for this component.

The 2015–16 reforms split force generation from operational command: the service raises, trains and equips ground forces, the theatre employs the ones assigned to it. Both relationships are real and neither is the tree parent twice — this record sits under the theatre because the theatre is what makes it relevant to this module.
