- Bandar Abbas is the seat of the Artesh Navy and of its first district, and since the 1980s it has also been the seat of the Guard Navy's first district — the one port from which both Iranian navies are commanded. The two-navy division of labour is described consistently by analysts, with the conventional service oriented outward past the strait and the Guard on the Gulf itself, but it has never been published by Iran as a boundary, and the shared headquarters port is the place where that ambiguity is physical. Iranian media reported United States strikes at Bandar Abbas on 1–2 September 2026, carried here as an Iranian report.
