- Kuwait's armed forces were destroyed in 1990 and rebuilt after 1991 on a premise the state has never abandoned: that its defence is the coalition that liberated it. The army, air force and navy are small and Western-equipped, a separate National Guard sits outside the Ministry of Defence, and the country hosts the American land component's forward headquarters and an air expeditionary wing. It sits at the head of the Gulf, nearest the Iraqi and Iranian shores, and it was among the six states attacked from February 2026; in the exchange of 1–2 September 2026 Kuwait reported its air defences engaging drones and missiles, which is the only Kuwaiti force activity the module's sources name.
