The emblem of the Armed Forces of Armenia — a shield bearing the eagle-and-lion arms over crossed elements, with the service's name in Armenian. A SERVICE-EMBLEM, NOT A FLAG, and the kind field says so: no flag file of the Armed Forces was located, and an emblem is what the institution publishes. This candidate was CLEARED ON LICENCE in the earlier manifest and not fetched; it is now fetched, checked and shipped. Public domain on Commons, no attribution obligation. LEGIBILITY, STATED: a badge on a transparent ground has no field colour, so at 18x12px it reads as a pale form rather than as itself. - Armenia formally joined UN peacekeeping in July 2001 and raised a peacekeeping battalion with Greek financial and technical help; its first contingent, thirty-four soldiers, went to Kosovo in February 2004 inside a Greek unit. A unit served under Polish command in Iraq from January 2005 to 2008, and in September 2007 the battalion was formally reorganised as a brigade, though the ministry's own account says the framework took years to fill. A platoon joined ISAF's northern command under German command in February 2010, guarding the airport at Kunduz and later bases at Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif, and the deployment ran to the 2021 withdrawal; a platoon joined UNIFIL in Lebanon under the Italian contingent in December 2014. In January 2022 a contingent went briefly to Kazakhstan under the CSTO — the last such deployment before Armenia froze its participation. The brigade is the one Armenian formation built to partner standards from the start, which is why the 2024–2035 transformation concept treats it as the model, and why the EU's October 2024 decision to open its operations to Armenian participation matters to it specifically.
