Northern Poland is broad, low, well-drained country crossed by rivers running north to the Baltic. It is the physical connection between allied industrial depth in the west and the Baltic states in the north-east, and it is where most of what moves in this theatre would have to move.

- Low, open and largely agricultural, crossed by the Vistula, the Oder and their tributaries running northward. Forest in patches, particularly in the north-east. The rivers are the only significant natural interruptions, and all of them run across rather than along the east–west axis.

- The best-connected ground in the eastern half of this theatre: a dense road and rail network on standard European gauge, several ports on the Baltic coast, and no natural barrier running east to west. The constraint is not the terrain but the state of the infrastructure and the regulatory arrangements that govern moving across it, which is a mobility-programme question rather than a geographic one. Two EU core network corridors — North Sea–Baltic and, since the 2023 revision, Baltic–Black–Aegean — run across this ground, and Warsaw is the southern end of the Rail Baltica axis where the standard-gauge Baltic line is to meet the European network.

- Dense by the standards of the theatre: Warsaw in the centre, the Gdańsk conurbation on the coast, Szczecin on the Oder and a network of regional cities in between. Explains why Poland appears in nearly every logistics and mobility record in this module: it is the ground the connection runs across. The published institutional facts sit on it in a recognisable order. Behind the plain to the west is the Allied Joint Support and Enabling Command at Ulm, whose published subject is the rear area and the movement of forces, and 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps at Münster, which took responsibility for Estonia and Latvia in 2026. On the plain itself are the two multinational headquarters Poland seats — the corps at Szczecin and the division at Elbląg — the Baltic ports, and the Warsaw node where the Baltic gauge problem begins. Poland is also the state the United States has described as a "model ally" in its March 2026 posture testimony, the host of the first permanently stationed United States forces on the flank, and the author of the East Shield fortification programme along its eastern and northern borders. Vigil describes the network’s existence and its published constraints. It publishes no route, no sequence, no timing, no capacity and no assessment of where anything would move.

- Poland's own defence hosts did not serve a force-structure page to this project, so no Polish national formation is placed on this ground by this record.
- The East Shield programme site was behind bot verification when reviewed; its scope is carried from the Chancellery's announcement and reporting of it.
- Host-nation support arrangements between Poland and the forces on its territory are bilateral and largely unpublished.
Whether NATO or the EU publish military-mobility milestones for Poland
NATO states its logistics policy exists and the EU runs military-mobility instruments; neither has published a milestone this record can track. Any published measure would be new disclosure.
East Shield's published completion against its 2028 target
The programme was announced with a budget and a completion year. Its progress is a Polish government publication, and the record carries no estimate of its own.
