- Istotna historia
- Military cooperation dates from Azerbaijani independence and was formalised in a 2010 strategic partnership and mutual assistance agreement; through the 2010s Türkiye trained Azerbaijani officers, exercised with the army and supplied the drones and doctrine the 2020 war made famous. The Shusha Declaration of June 2021, signed in the recaptured city, raised the relationship to an alliance framework with a mutual-assistance clause. Since then the partnership has expressed itself in joint exercises, in defence-industrial ties that gave Azerbaijan Akıncı as well as Bayraktar aircraft, and in the 2025–26 connectivity agenda: the Kars–Nakhchivan rail link and Türkiye's stake in the corridor the Washington declaration named TRIPP. Türkiye's closed border with Armenia is the other half of the same fact, and the Armenia–Türkiye normalisation track is where that half is tracked.
