- The least intuitive of INDOPACOM's service components in a maritime theatre, and included here for two reasons that are genuinely structural. The first is land-based long-range fires: the Army's multi-domain formations are the vehicle for putting missiles on land in an archipelago, which is the same idea Taiwan's coastal batteries and the Marine Corps' littoral regiments express from different directions. The second is less discussed and probably more consequential — theatre logistics, watercraft and prepositioning are army responsibilities, and every published treatment of a protracted contingency in this theatre turns into a sustainment problem.

- Ownership of theatre-level sustainment functions the other components depend on, and long-standing exercise relationships with regional land forces including the Philippines.
- Limites
- Land forces in a maritime theatre depend entirely on access granted by other states, and access is a political decision that is revisited. Land-based missile deployments in the region are politically contentious with host countries and with Beijing, which is a constraint on the concept rather than a detail of it.
