Podsumowanie

Türkiye and Israel compete for influence in post-Assad Syria and have used an Azerbaijan-brokered military channel since 2025 to keep that competition from producing a direct clash. The channel's limits were demonstrated twice by force: Israeli strikes on Syrian airfields associated with Turkish basing plans in April 2025, and again at Abu al-Duhur in August 2026 — the second carried out with no warning through the channel the two had been using. That failure is why the United States envoy proposed relaunching an Israel–Syria deconfliction cell on a standing, round-the-clock basis with Türkiye as a direct or indirect participant. The channel therefore exists, has been used, and has not reliably done the one thing it was established to do.
