Podsumowanie

Acceded on 30 May 1982. Spain stayed outside the integrated military command until 1999, so its membership and its military integration are separately dated facts. Membership carries the mutual-defence commitment of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, under which an armed attack against one ally is treated as an attack against them all. Spain frames the battlegroup in Slovakia and seats the combined air operations centre at Torrejón. This record states the membership and its date; it says nothing about how much this state spends, what it contributes, or how reliable any party considers it — none of which membership establishes.
