Podsumowanie

Acceded on 12 March 1999 in the first post-Cold-War enlargement, together with Czechia, Hungary and Poland. Membership carries the mutual-defence commitment of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, under which an armed attack against one ally is treated as an attack against them all. Poland hosts a United States-led battlegroup and the seats of two multinational headquarters. This record states the membership and its date; it says nothing about how much this state spends, what it contributes, or how reliable any party considers it — none of which membership establishes.

  Traktat założycielski. Artykuł 5 zawiera zobowiązanie do wzajemnej obrony; artykuł 10 to klauzula akcesyjna, na mocy której przystąpili wszyscy późniejsi członkowie.

Co pozostaje nieznane

• Poland shares the rotational lead of Joint Force Command Brunssum with Germany under the February 2026 redistribution; the effective date is not published.
• The United States’ March 2026 posture testimony quotes Polish defence spending of 4.5% of GDP for 2025 and a 5% pledge for 2026. That is a US statement about an ally and is recorded as such; no national percentage is carried as a fact in this module until NATO’s own table has been read.
• Poland’s defence hosts served no force-structure page to this project, so the Polish contribution to the flank beyond the published headquarters and hosting is not carried.
