Podsumowanie

One of the twelve original signatories of 4 April 1949. France withdrew from the integrated military command structure in 1966 and rejoined it in 2009; its membership of the alliance was continuous throughout, and the two are routinely confused. Membership carries the mutual-defence commitment of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, under which an armed attack against one ally is treated as an attack against them all. France frames the battlegroup in Romania. This record states the membership and its date; it says nothing about how much this state spends, what it contributes, or how reliable any party considers it — none of which membership establishes.
