In Ukraine, a reconnaissance and rear-area vehicle on both sides, with losses visually documented since 2014. In Mali, part of the Russian-delivered packages that re-equipped FAMa's mobile columns from 2023. Sixty years on, refurbished stock still soldiers on because it exists in numbers, not because it excels.

Light, amphibious and fast on roads, with a small turret carrying a heavy machine gun; simple to maintain and cheap to refurbish from storage, which is why it keeps reappearing in delivery packages.

Protection against rifle fire only; no mine protection worth the name, a serious weakness on the IED-laced roads of central Mali; obsolete optics. In Ukraine it is documented mostly as a loss rather than as a capability.

A low, boat-shaped four-wheeled hull with a small conical turret and no side doors; the pointed bow and the belly-mounted auxiliary wheels distinguish it from the larger eight-wheeled BTR series.
