Service ensign: Army Flag of the Republic of China — carried by ROC Army, not issued to this record. The Army flag: a red field charged with a navy rectangle bearing the white sun of twelve rays, 2:3 — the National Revolutionary Army's flag, carried by the Army since. The design was verified independently of the file: the Armed Forces Flags Act and the vexillological record both give a red field with the blue-sky white-sun panel at the centre, which is what this file draws. FILE: Wikimedia Commons "Flag of the Republic of China Army.svg", public domain, with the ROC Ministry of National Defence recorded as the author of the original. 377 bytes, three paths and two transforms; nothing was optimised because there was nothing to remove. - Eastern Taiwan — the Hualien and Taitung coastal strip east of the central range

- Designated the Second Theatre of Operations in the reorganisation effective 1 January 2022. The eastern coast has always been the strategically unusual part of Taiwan: separated from the population centres by a mountain range, thinly connected by road and rail, and for decades treated as the depth into which the island's air power and command arrangements could fall back. That assumption is what has changed. From the August 2022 exercises onward, PLA naval and air activity east of the island — and from 2026, standing China Coast Guard patrols in the same waters — has been the single most consistent trend in the pressure baseline. A theatre that was designed as a rear area is being treated by the other side as an approach.

حتى يونيو 2026 لم يكن نشاط خفر السواحل الصيني في المياه شرق تايوان يجري إلا ضمن مناورات عسكرية معلنة. وفي يونيو بدأت مجموعة مهام بقيادة الزورق Daishan دوريات هناك، وصفها خفر السواحل بأنها إنفاذ للقانون يشمل تفتيش السفن وحماية مصائد الأسماك والإنقاذ. وفي 4 يوليو حلّت محلها مجموعة مهام ثانية بقيادة الزورق Xiushan وواصلت الدوريات، وأعلن الجهاز أنه سيعزز إنفاذ القانون في ما سمّاه المياه الخاضعة للولاية القضائية الصينية. وترفض السلطات التايوانية هذا التوصيف. وأثار التناوب بيانات قلق من حكومات إقليمية.
