The naval service — the oldest of the four; publishes the Admiralty at Den Helder, the Netherlands Maritime Force as its deployable operational staff, the Marine Corps and its shore organisations by name, and combines its operational staff with Belgium's as the Admiralty Benelux.

- Worldwide, in the service's own words, "in the interests of ensuring security at sea and from the sea"; its principal bases are published as Den Helder, Doorn, Rotterdam and the Caribbean.
