Стислий виклад

Acceded on 29 March 2004 in the largest single enlargement, together with Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Membership carries the mutual-defence commitment of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, under which an armed attack against one ally is treated as an attack against them all. Bulgaria hosts an Italian-led battlegroup. This record states the membership and its date; it says nothing about how much this state spends, what it contributes, or how reliable any party considers it — none of which membership establishes.

• Bulgaria publishes no force structure in English beyond a sitemap, so the Bulgarian contribution to the battlegroup it hosts, and to anything else on the flank, is not established by any source read.
• The Italian framework role is recorded on the forward-presence record; membership establishes neither that arrangement nor its scale.
