- The Israeli-controlled Golan and, since December 2024, the former buffer zone and positions beyond it in Quneitra and Dara'a provinces, including the Syrian Hermon. The published description stops there; no position or line is authored.
- Bemerkenswerte Geschichte
- The Golan's territorial division since the 1970s, holding a front that was quiet for four decades under the 1974 disengagement agreement and its UN observer force. That quiet ended twice: with the Syrian war's arrival on the line after 2011, and decisively on 8 December 2024, when the IDF moved into the buffer zone and beyond it as the Assad state collapsed, took the Syrian side of Mount Hermon, and struck the former state's military assets across the country. The division's area has since been the subject of the US-mediated security negotiations of 2026 — phased withdrawal toward the 1974 lines, positions retained on the Hermon — and of the UN commission's September 2026 finding of fixed infrastructure, temporary checkpoints and cross-border detentions that Israel describes as a temporary buffer amounting to a tenth of one per cent of Syria. The prime minister's visit to the Hermon the following day, with the defence minister's statement that Israel would not leave the security zones, is the record's most recent material fact.
