Zusammenfassung
From 2011 Iran sustained the Assad state with credit lines and oil, with Hezbollah's intervention from 2013, with the IRGC-coordinated network of Iraqi, Afghan and Pakistani militias, and with the land corridor from Iraq through al-Bukamal to Lebanon that the 2017 recapture of the Euphrates valley opened. The relationship was an alliance in fact if not in treaty: Iranian officers died in Syria in numbers, and Israel's campaign against the corridor was fought on Syrian ground. It ended in a single month. Hezbollah, broken by its 2024 war with Israel, could not intervene when the November 2024 offensive began; the corridor was cut as the eastern garrisons dissolved; and on 8 December the client government fell. The transitional government excluded Iranian presence from the start, and its reported commitments against Iranian-linked forces anchor both the Israel file and the United States sanctions certifications. What persists is residual — smuggling economies, loyalist remnants — and is carried on the legacy organisation record, not here.
Warum es wichtig ist
The absence is the module's structural fact: a Syria without Iran is what makes the Israel negotiation, the Turkish defence memorandum and the American sanctions relief possible, and each of those files carries an Iranian-exclusion condition inside it. The relationship is terminated; its consequences are the present system's premises.
