- In the weeks after the July 2025 violence, on 23 August 2025, some thirty to forty of Sweida's Druze factions announced a National Guard under the leadership of Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, the most influential of the community's spiritual authorities, with the stated aim of consolidating the province's military and security effort — the Men of Dignity among them, and reportedly the Sweida Military Council. It is the body that holds most of the province outside state authority, that Israel's stated protection interest attaches to, and that fought the Interior Ministry's forces in the western countryside again on 31 August 2026, three days after al-Hijri described the community as an integral part of the State of Israel in remarks other Druze figures rejected. Its membership has shifted: by August 2026 sources differed on whether the Men of Dignity were still inside it.
